Slumdog Millionaire is a movie which included all things - hope, aspiration and fate. But, the film bagging 8 oscar awards confused me about the reason it has won awards. Why do the film made on India always emphasize on poverty and exploitation? The vibrant democracy in the country allows poor people to move freely where tourists and forigners can see them naked. One reason you dont find this people in major cities of China and other countries because poor people are barred from being there. I dont find any reason why Indian filmmaker cant make such films or direct such films or cant cinematograph such films....It is because most of the Indian directors show the spirit of India ( Chake De! or Rang De Basanti); Bollywood is much interested in luxury and fantasy, Sydney harbour, Alps and stylish "real" version of India.
This is not the first time A.R.Rehman has come out with a good music. He has done on number of occassions (Roja, RDB,etc..). The fans of A.R.Rehman will truly support me that the music in many of his previous film was as good as or much better than slumdog millionaire.
Its true that he is recognized now and we should be proud of this moment...but at wht cost....because its not an indian film? or because it is a british film??
Just ask this question to yourself....if the filmmaker of this film was an indian...would the recgnition or honour be of same calibre???
